Dawn's Shadow

The summer I turned thirteen, I discovered Harlequin romances.  My aunt’s bookshelves were lined with dreams of faraway places and knights in shining armor. My mind overflowed with these images, forcing me to put pen to paper.  I smile when I think of the Greek myth I wrote for a 7th grade English class, or the romantic screenplay I wrote for my high school film class.  The teacher was a hunk, and I always wondered what he thought of the sex scene I could never flesh out because I was too young to know exactly what went on in the bedroom. 

In the years since, I’ve managed to see a few of those faraway places for myself and married my own knight in shining armor, my soul mate and best friend, Eric.  We have two grown sons, Devon and Collin, who are busy creating their own adventures. 

In the late nineties, I joined Writers and Books, a local nonprofit organization for aspiring writers, and took several classes.  Shortly thereafter, I joined a local chapter of RWA, where I met my critique partners and close friends, Dawn Ireland and Karin Shah.

My fascination with the paranormal began with Stephen King and having lived in Upstate New York for most of my life, I couldn’t help but hear of Lily Dale, a small community of spiritualists located along Lake Erie.  This sparked an idea.  What if there was a family of psychics with all different abilities?  What if a serial killer entered the picture?  What if . . .?  Thus, Dawn’s Shadow, Winter’s Breath, and Dark Embers were born.  All the manuscripts have placed in or won RWA chapter contests.

I’ve also been fascinated by the Greek Gods.  This led to my series about the descendants of the Greek Gods and their battles with their evil cousins.  The first in the series, In the Gods’ Secret Service – Love’s Fire has also placed in and won RWA chapter contests.

Currently I am a member of Central New York Romance Writers, a wonderfully supportive group of authors and friends.  I’m also a member of Romance Writers of America.
